What is Marc thinking???

It was announced yesterday that Victoria Beckham is the new face of Marc Jacobs. One can only wonder how an already over-publicized, skeletal, plastic silicone, washed up pop star will contribute to a classic and timeless, modern, quirky, colourful, youthful, American designer.

I wait to be enlightened...

As If the Carnival Came to Life: John Galliano Spring 2008

OK.. so i WAS trying to go in order and post my favourite Spring 2008 shows from New York, London, Milan, and Paris but i just can't wait to post this one any longer.

I'm not exactly sure if it's the fantasy element combined with true feminity or the mad melange of Coney Island, the reclusive socialites in Grey Gardens, and Andy Warhol on vacation.. whatever the element may be, I'm astounded.

Anna Sui: Spring 2008

Anna Sui's Spring 2008 collection took a walk on the wild side. Sui's collection of wide legged pant suits, long jackets, short dresses and high waisted shorts combined a multitude of decades. The pieces represented a chic, artistic take of punk and rock and roll from the 1960's to present day. 60's mini dresses, 70's high waisted shorts and pant suits were full of vibrant colours paired with neon accents made bold statements, while the 80's sheer blouse, leather skirts and today's metallic silver tones polished the Spring collection with a futuristic take on the past.

"It's like suddenly I became a Rockstar" - Roberto Cavalli

On November 8th the Roberto Cavalli line for H&M went on sale and it's success was noted even before the registers began to ring. Excited customers started lining up at 4am waiting for the doors to open and the entire limited edition collection was sold out in 15 minutes. The collection is exactly what one would picture when thinking of Cavalli sparkles, animal prints, and glamour.

1. Roberto Cavalli feeling like a rockstar arriving at the unveiling in NYC to a screaming line of fans.

2. The early risers.

3. My favourite pieces.

Diane von Furstenburg: Spring 2008

Furstenburg stated that her collection was about "the fantasy of escaping to exotic islands, and the wilder shores of love." Paradise ideals are exactly what her Spring 2008 collection embodies through her use of tropical brights (yellows, pinks, and orange) floral printed and mulit-dyed fabrics, volumous sundresses, flow tunics, and head-scarfs.

I can hear the waves now.

Colourful Collaboration

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles is showing an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Murakami’s style is referred to as 'Superflat', characterized by flat planes of colour and graphic images involving a character style derived from anime and manga. His work is similar to that of Warhol's in the way he takes low-culture pop images and creates high-art. Murakami became well known in North America for his 2003 collaboration with Marc Jacobs designing the colourful Louis Vuitton bags adorned with round faced cartoon characters, and cherry blossom flowers.

New trend? Limited edition designer boutiques in museums?

All Wrong: Jessica Simpson's style

Jessica has a tendency to wear every so called "trend" at once, which results in her looking like the pages of the Instyle "How to Dress Issue" threw up on her...

1. Great large snake skin bag---> NOT WITH THIS OUTFIT
2. BADLY SHAPED LARGE SHADES
3. Grey boots, with grey volumous jacket.. no colour co-ordination.
4. Belt clinching waist... that was cool 2 years ago
5. Long necklace, way too busy.

Her stylist should be fired by now.. the 'texas' girl look is never coming back.
